Billing Threshold

The billing threshold is the amount of spend you build up before Meta actually charges your card. Reach the threshold, you get charged; reach the billing date, you get charged; whichever comes first.

You see several charges from Meta in a single week and assume something has gone wrong. Usually nothing has. Meta does not bill you per click or per day. It lets your spend accumulate until it reaches a threshold amount, then it charges you, and it charges again each time you refill that bucket. Spend fast and you hit the threshold often, so you see frequent charges. Spend slowly and you get billed on a regular date instead. The threshold usually steps up as your account builds a payment history, and in 2026 Meta moved many higher-spend accounts onto monthly invoicing instead.

Understanding this kills two false alarms. The first is thinking you are being double-charged, when in reality your total spend for a period and your total charges for it reconcile cleanly, just on an irregular rhythm. The second is being blindsided by a charge, when it is only your accumulated spend tripping the threshold. Your Ads Manager spend for a stretch should match your card charges for the same stretch.

The threshold is about when you pay, not how much, so it changes nothing about your real spend, but the cash-flow timing can still catch you. A rising threshold plus fast spend can drop a larger-than-expected charge on the card at an awkward moment. And if your numbers seem off by a small amount, check the account timezone before you cry billing error, because Meta's day boundaries and your bank's may simply not line up.

Frequent charges are the threshold doing its job, not a fault; the spend and the charges always reconcile in the end.
