Your product feed is the structured product data inside Google Merchant Center that powers your Shopping ads and the product side of Performance Max.
You are selling real products, so before any Shopping ad can run, Google needs to know what each product is. That is what the feed carries: titles, prices, images, availability, and unique IDs like GTIN, one row per item, kept accurate and current. When you launch Shopping or Performance Max, the campaign does not pick keywords the way Search does; it reads this feed and decides which product to show for which query.
You will spend more time here than you expect. A good title with the right keywords, a clean image, an in-stock status that matches your site, and correct pricing all feed directly into whether Google shows the product and to whom. Get the data right and the algorithm has something to work with; feed it garbage and no bidding strategy saves you.
Watch this. The feed's quality and approval status is the whole game, because wrong prices, missing attributes, or disapproved items quietly pull products out of your ads without an obvious error, and you notice only when spend and sales drift. The boring feed maintenance is the real work.
Fix the feed before you touch the bids.
