Google Merchant Center

In one lineWhere your product data lives for Shopping.

Google Merchant Center is where your product data lives, the feed of everything you sell, that powers your Shopping ads and the product side of Performance Max.

You want your products, with their real images and prices, showing up in Google's shopping results and inside Performance Max. Merchant Center is the home for that. You upload or sync a product feed, titles, prices, images, availability, and Google reads it to build the product listings your ads show. It is Google's version of a catalog: the ads pull straight from the feed, so when a price or a stock level changes at the source, the ads follow along without you rebuilding anything.

It matters because without Merchant Center there are no Shopping ads and no product-driven Performance Max at all. It is the foundation under every ad that shows an actual product, and its health decides whether those ads can even run. Whether your items are approved, whether the prices match your site, whether the required fields are filled, all of it governs how much of your range Google is willing to show.

A naming note, because Google keeps moving this one. The rebuilt Merchant Center Next became the standard, and in 2026 Google dropped the Next, so it is simply Merchant Center again. Past the name, the real job is feed and policy health: disapproved products, prices that disagree between the feed and the landing page, and missing data quietly pull items out of your ads, so the unglamorous feed maintenance is the actual work.

Your Shopping ads can only sell what your feed says you have, cleanly and truthfully.
