AdAttributionKit is Apple's newer attribution framework, built to eventually replace SKAdNetwork.
Apple introduced AdAttributionKit, often shortened to AAK, in 2024 as the next generation of privacy-safe install measurement. It does what SKAN does, matching an ad to an install without exposing the user, and adds things SKAN handled poorly, like reengagement and alternative app marketplaces. On paper it is where Apple wants everyone to go.
In practice, through 2026, almost nobody has moved. The ad networks and measurement partners you actually buy through still run on SKAN, so if you switched your reporting to AAK today, most of your postbacks would have nowhere to land. The sensible read is to know it exists, keep SKAN as the workhorse, and watch for the year the big networks flip.
Newer does not mean adopted. AdAttributionKit has real capabilities, but publisher and network traction stayed low through 2026, so building your measurement around it now means building for an ecosystem that has not shown up yet.
AAK is the future Apple wants; SKAN is the present you still report in.
