The ttclid is the TikTok click ID, a parameter added to your link that ties a specific ad click to the conversion it later produces.
When a user taps your TikTok ad, TikTok appends ttclid to the destination URL. Your pixel reads that value when the page loads and uses it to connect the eventual purchase back to the exact campaign, ad set, and ad that drove the click. No ttclid, no clean line from click to sale.
Here is where it breaks. If your link runs through a redirect or a URL shortener before it reaches your site, that hop can strip ttclid off the URL. The shopper still buys, but the pixel never sees the click ID, so TikTok logs the sale as unattributed and your working ad looks dead.
The parameter only helps if it survives the whole trip to your landing page. Redirects, aggressive privacy settings, and messy tag setups quietly drop it, and you rarely get a warning, you just see conversions you cannot explain.
Check that ttclid actually lands on your page before you blame the ad.
