Primary text, headline, and description are the three writing slots inside a single Meta ad: the primary text is the main block of words that sits above or around your creative and gets read first, the headline is the short bold line that sits right next to the button as your punchiest promise, and the description is a small supporting line that shows up in some placements to add one more detail and quietly disappears in others.
Think of these three fields as the only places your actual message gets to live once the creative has done its job of stopping the scroll. The primary text carries the story and the context, the part where you get to explain what this is and why someone should care. The headline is your compressed offer, the single line that has to land even if nobody reads a word above it. The description is a bonus slot you do not fully control, because whether it appears at all depends on where the ad ends up showing and on what kind of device someone is holding.
This matters because every one of these fields can get cut short. Meta will fold your primary text behind a see more link or simply trim it, and it will shorten your headline and drop your description depending on the placement. So the first line of your primary text and the words in your headline end up doing almost all of the real work, since that is the slice a moving thumb actually sees before deciding whether you are worth another second of attention.
Front-load everything that matters, because you cannot count on anyone reading past the first line or two. Do not bury your hook or your offer three sentences deep where a see more will hide it, and do not write a headline that only makes sense after someone has read a paragraph they will almost certainly never open. Write the opening as if it is the only thing a person will ever read from you, because for most of your audience that is exactly what it is.
Put your best line first, every time, because the first line is usually the only line.
