Carousel

In one lineSeveral images or videos in one swipeable ad.

A carousel is a single Meta ad built from several cards that a person swipes through, where each card carries its own image or video and can hold its own headline and its own link, so one ad can show several products, tell a small story across the cards, or break one big idea into steps.

The way it works in practice is that you load two or more cards into one ad, and the person scrolls sideways through them inside their feed without ever leaving the ad. Each card is its own little unit, which means the second card can point somewhere completely different from the first, and the fourth can pick up a thread the third one started.

This matters because the format earns its keep in a few specific situations rather than everywhere. When you sell many products, each card can feature a different one and send the person straight to that exact product page instead of a generic landing spot. When you have a story, a set of features, or a sequence of steps, the swipe lets you unfold it one beat at a time rather than cramming everything into a single frame. And for some audiences the small act of swiping is itself a piece of engagement that a static image never gets, which is a signal you can actually use.

Do not reach for a carousel just because it looks more sophisticated than a single image. The format only works when it fits what you are actually saying, and if your message is one clear idea, one strong image or one strong video will usually beat a carousel that makes people work to reach the point. Save it for when you genuinely have several things to show or a sequence worth swiping through, not as decoration on a message that was already simple.

Use a carousel when you have more than one thing to say, and a single image when you do not.
