An A/B test splits your audience at random and shows each half a different version, so that when the results differ, the thing you changed is the only thing that can explain it.

You swap the creative on Tuesday, the numbers move by Friday, and you tell yourself the new creative won. But you also nudged the budget, and it was a different week with different competition, so honestly you have no idea which change did what. That guessing is exactly what an A/B test removes. Meta's Experiments tool runs both versions at the same time on audiences it splits randomly and keeps from overlapping, so the two groups are alike in every way except the one variable you are testing. Same window, same conditions, one clean difference.

The randomness is the whole point, and it is what separates a real A/B test from just duplicating an ad set and eyeballing which does better. When you duplicate, the two ad sets quietly chase the same people, bid against each other, and hand you a result polluted by overlap. A proper A/B test builds two fair, separate groups first, which is the only way the winner you crown is the real winner and not an accident of who happened to see what.

A test is only as trustworthy as the volume under it. If each side gets a handful of conversions, the "winner" is mostly luck, and calling it early because one variant jumped ahead in the first two days is how people ship the losing option with total confidence. Let it gather enough results to be real before you declare anything, or you have run a coin toss and written down the side that was up.

Change one thing, split the audience at random, and wait for real volume, or you are not testing, you are guessing with extra steps.
