Message Ads are single-message ads delivered straight to a member's LinkedIn inbox and priced per send.
You write one message from a personal sender, attach a single call-to-action button, and LinkedIn drops it into the recipient's messaging when they are active. You pay each time a message is delivered, not when someone opens or clicks, so your cost is fixed the moment delivery happens regardless of what the recipient does next.
A consulting firm sends a Message Ad inviting finance leaders to a webinar, with one button linking to the registration page; the firm is charged on every delivery to that audience whether or not anyone signs up.
Frequency is capped and unforgiving. A member can only receive one Message or Conversation Ad from any advertiser within a set window, so you cannot retry quickly, and a weak first message wastes the only slot you get for a while.
One shot to the inbox, paid on arrival.
